Just a note to say thank
you for such a well run tournament.
We had a good day, didn't make it past the first round but still
played our part in a good competition.
Glad you ignored the weather forecast, the rain certainly could
have been alot worse.
It was our first time there, but the lads are already asking about
next year.
Thanks again,
Nigel Cloutman Illogan U10s
Just wanted to say a big
thank you and an even bigger well done to you and all of your team
at Wendron FC for all the hard work in staging an excellent tournament.
It was very obvious that a lot of dedicated people worked very hard to get everything
ready for Sundays football festival.
It was also great to see your very smart new changing rooms.
Well done Wendron FC

I just want to say thank you for a fantastic day out.
Helston U7 and their parents had a totally enjoyable day. The boys
showed some good football and progressed to the semi final where
we were beaten by the eventuall winners.
It was well organised from start to finish and could you also pass
on my thanks to the referees. Many thanks

Just dropping you an e mail to say how much my team and I enjoyed
the tournament on Sunday. The organization was outstanding as
was the playing surface. A great day was had by all topped off
by the weather. Hope the final amount raised is again higher

Hello, My name is Graham Frise and I am the Manager of Tregorrick
Park Celts U7's, St Austell.
I would just like to say a very big thank you to all at Wendron
United Football Club for an absolutely brilliant Football tournament.
Your tournament was our first competative outing as a team and I am very proud
to say the boys won their finals, a big acheivement I think you will agree.
I have to say that there wasn't one thing to critisize about the day, the organisation
that went on behind the scenes must have caused a few headaches for all. and
the whole day appeared to go without a hitch.
Your Ref's all played an outstanding part and they all deserve to be congratulated
on their part.
Again Many Thanks from all at Tregorrick Celts and congratulations on a brilliant
day and we look forward to next years tournament.
Kind Regards
Graham Frise

Have
been checking out the guest book or was it the Nick Scoley
Chat Room?
Anyway it was nice of him to reminisce a bygone age of football
in 1976.
The strange hair styles shorts down to the ankles and the hobnail
boots.
The rest of the team looked fashionable that was just Nick but
I suppose
thing haven't changed that much except he can't perm his hair anymore.
Enough banter just wanted to say if you get a chance to see the
U16s this
season its worth taking some time out to watch a great bunch of
lads playing
some smashing footy and who have so far this season played 7 and
won 7 Games
and are thru to the quarter finals of the Luke cup and will play
Newquay at
a date to be arranged.
Last of all well done to the majority of these lads who have also
helped
strengthen the Wendron 4th team who are in a respectable position
in mining
league 3 which has been a fantastic introduction into men's football
for
them.

It
sure is nice to see another fan on the site. I was feeling
lonely but
after another weekend of breath taking gut bustin action I'm sure
everyone
will have an opinion on how our boys did.
Wow did you see Craigs hat trick? Pretty good but you should have
seen mine
back in 1976. Mount Wellington Mine V South Crofty. I'd learnt
a lot from
Mark Hughes and some guy called Souness or something, I took a
pass on my
right instep, crossed it to my left, looked through my right eye,
winked at
the goalie and bingo unstoppable shot into the left corner. The
next two
where childs play.
Enough of my goals, what about the veterans?
Thrashed
Hayle 1:0 a guts and all display, Jim Collins will never
walk
again,
Jake can't light his own fag anymore Mr Hodson has to play
for the 1st. Team
next week but can't even button his shirt. Colin Tressider
still has'nt
stopped cussin at Andy Trathen. Mr.Wara is still wondering
how he missed out
on so many personal injury claims. Wow! what a game, Roysten
discovered a
fitness regime that could corner the market in ball recovery.
I could
go on about big James helpful? Comments, or about Robert
Bassetts
subtle challenges or the veteran Tony Harris and his awesome
attempt at
proving that Wendron Goalposts were breakable. All in vain.
We won
---thrashed them 1:0 that¹s all that matters!!

Season 2005/06 |
Am I the only person
who looks at our guest book?
Let's have some comment and support for our teams this season.
We have four more or less ably bodied sides all trying not to
make fools of themselves and to produce scinti(can't spell that
) good football.
Remember Peter Thorne (who?) when you wake up at 11:30 on a Saturday
morning
the rapidly ageing P.T will have cut the grass marked the lines
and otherwise made a complete nuisance of himself, all so that
you can show your scars on Saturday night. Give him a hand if
you can, if you can't, don’t buy him a drink because I
need it more than him.
Good luck lards (lards?) I think I mean lads. |

Simon
your grammar is appalling youre speelling is wourse and as
for
haircuts well! When I was your age and hair became
a problem I found that a simple short
back and sides was the answer, that, together with early nights
and a glass
of milk with my bed time story turned me into the man I am today.
So watch
it.
As for football, I think if you spent less time farting about with
text
messages and more time listening to your elders and learnt more
about how
hard it was in their day, helped at home with the washing up and
at Wendron
with the cricket teas, had a good sound thrashing from your Dad

assured me that i wud win it if it existed though! Thanks gaffa!
I also wanted to say well done to every1 invovled with the club,

we are all one club and every team intergrates.I know the first

A
big well done to Peter Thorne and all involved in making the

and dance such a success
It was a great evening. I would also like to thank the staff
at the Membley

All did a fantastic job, and the food was absolutely delicious.
It is so nice to be involved in what is not just a club but also
a large
family of friends with real team spirit
and commitment, and not forgetting Craig's favourite word LOYALTY
of which I
counted him saying about
twelve times during the evening. I would also like to congratulate
our
clubman of the year Ray Kearney,
It was such a deserved award for a manager who has worked hard
for his club
and team. He always
has a smile and words of encouragement for his team, this has
helped a lot
of the youngsters progress
into 4th team football this season which has included my son
Jeremy who has
really enjoyed his first
Season with Ray and was so proud to pick up players player which
at 15 has
really boosted his confidence
and is already talking about next season with much anticipation.
Anyway enough of my babbling I would just like to finish with
a massive well
done to all teams and all the winners
This season, but remember at the end of the day you are all winners
and the
biggest winner of all is the club,
Your wins are Wendrons wins.
Go and have a well-deserved break you have earned it.
See you all soon

Could
you ask any better from the 1st team manager? Not only does
he allow
his son to play for the 4th team but also on Saturday the 12th
Steve Webber
and Craig Martin donned their shorts and turned out against Madron
helping
us to our first away win.
It was heartening to see the Silver Fox and his side kick Bushy
roaming the
pitch, dispensing their wisdom and experience and generally digging
in for a
team who had recently lost 5 players to the 3rds from what was
essentially a
settled side, without them we wouldn't have had a team that day
never mind a
winning one.
I would like to say a big thank you to Ray Kearney for his patience
and good
humour throughout this unsettling period and a huge thank you
to Steve WeBber
and Craig for Saturday. I think it just goes to prove that whether
you are
connected to the 1sts, 2nds, 3rds or 4th team we all play for
Wendron and
the club.
The final score was Madron 1 Wendron 5

Yes, Rugbys a wonderful game.
Every last one of you played a blinder today you can be proud of
yourselves. Here are just a few of the comments I heard after the game:
"It was 'ard out there but we groun out a result, thats what it's
all about init!"
"We got what we deserved, 3 points in the bag and we had to put up
with dodgy showers."
"I thought the supporters where great, without them we would
certainly have lost."
"I thought our kit was a lot cleaner than theirs and that gave us a
boost at kick off, after that it was all about showing a clean pair of
heels."
"I'm 92 years old and I've watched Falmouth Town since I was a boy
and this was easily the best performance I've ever seen from a visiting team
at Bickland Park"
"Its Underlane for me after this display."

Mr.Martin. Craig is quite right of course, loyalty must play a
big part in
trying maintain a rural club like Wendron, without our young veterans

club would disappear. It's great to see the 1st.team doing so well,
not only
that, but doing it with so many Wendron youngsters playing for
the team.

so many good young players leaving 2 play in men’s football.

I
would just like to say that it was so refreshing to read the
comments of
Craig and Mikey and I'm sure that all of us who commit our time
to help
support the club at all levels are proud of the fact that we
have produced
players that have such loyalty as both these lads and many others
who put on
a Wendron shirt at the weekend.
Several weeks ago my son Jeremy who plays in the under fifteens
was asked if
he would like to take up the position as goalkeeper for the men's
fourths by
Ray Kearney the manager.
Anyway needless to say he snapped up the opportunity and is really
enjoying
himself. This is what he has been working hard to achieve since
he started
at the age of seven years old and he hopes to eventually run
out onto the
main pitch in a Wendron shirt. You only have to take one look
at the first
team to see what homegrown talent that this club has produced.
To all the youth team players your opportunity will come and
all it takes is
commitment and the magic word -
LOYALTY.
Good luck to you all.

I only started
playing men’s football last year and started
off in the third team but soon found myself in the combo team
with Craig. I’m only 16 and this message is to the under
16 squad who are thinking of men’s footy next year. Don’t
go of to rival clubs like Porthleven, Mullion, Falmouth, Penryn
and Helston but stay at the ‘dron. I no because its helped
me become a better player. And I also know the under 16’s
have a strong squad as I have watched them in recent games. Just
think of the 7-letter word -
LOYALTY
Thanks and good luck to every Wendron team 4 da rest of the

Bonfire
night was a real treat last night. It was my first time at
a Wendron bonfire and I must say the evening was fantastic.
The weather made all the difference being very dry, windless
and warm. The bonfire set the scene with lots of people being
able to stand around it and eat, drink and chat. Once the fireworks
started they seemed to go on for ages and ala the boys really
enjoyed them, not to mention someof the parents who seemed
to get just as much pleasure from them. Hope to see
you next year.

First
of all I would like to say that the web site is looking pretty
good. Could spruce it up with a few naked ladies but there
you
go.
I would
just like to say a few things about loyalty. The youth
at wendron football club has got to be the best in the area and
this message
is mainly directed at the youth players of the club. The main
aim of the
youth section is to progress and improve players for the future
of the club.
However I could name a lot of players that have come up through
the youth
section and have left the club to move to other teams
such as Pporthleven, Helston or Mullion. This upsets me a great
deal and I would like
to state to the players of the youth teams to have a bit of loyalty
and stay at the club so
we can produce great sides for years to come. Its about time
we saw Wendrons
name on the Combonation league trophy.
I have
been playing at Wendron for 12 years now and have played in every
youth and every mens team and have now played 3 seasons
in the
combination side. Lets see how many other players from the
youth section can
do this.
Good
luck for the rest of the season
Well done.

Dear
Stuart & Nick,
Saturday 13th December, 2003 will go down as a great day in Wendron history and
I was delighted to be able to witness your tremendous 2-0 win at Helston. When
I joined the Wendron Club 12 years ago it was my number one ambition to see a
Wendron
team, at first team level beat the Helston team. Our 4th team game at Truro
was postponed because of a waterlogged pitch and I was obviously mean't to be
there for your excellent result. I said I would retire when it happened but you
have generated an excellent spirit and the products of the youth system are now
integrating well with the more experienced players.
Winning the Combination League is not beyond your team, perhaps not in the current
year, but with the players we are now producing it is possible in the future.
Keep up the good work and congratulations to you and your players for making
my day. (I am celebrating with a meal out).
Kind regards

The Curtain Comes Down |
The
end of another season, who will be player of the year? Will
Peter Thorne buy a drink at the presentation evening? Is Stuart
Wilkes
really
only 27? These are only some of the unanswered questions remaining
at the end of a long hard seewason,
I mean season not seewason,
I never could spell.
From my point of view its been an average sort of season with
only one high
spot, the weekend I spent away in the Cotswalds and even then
I lost £10 on the Grand National and had to take my wife
with me as well. I,ve had to hire out Will to Penryn to try
to
balance the books. On the plus side Craig Martin has a new
car and has said that he will ferry all first team players to
all next seasons away games totally free of charge provided he
he
is guaranteed an appearance ( he did,nt say as what ). Craigs
dad, you know who I mean, that miserable old sod that makes me
buy a drink
for him at Wetherspoons every couple of weeks has promised to
sponsor the first team next year, yes ! you will all get a free
pack of
blu tack and a drawing pin.
On a happier note Forest have made
the play offs and will almost certainly give Wolves a severe
tonking and shame Steve Gilbert into buying your esteemed steward
a well
earned snifta1. I
suppose end of seeason thanks are now due, although I can,t think
what I have to thank any of you bunch of scallywags and
ne,er do wells for. Firstly of course a Mr.P.Thorne for
being a pain in the a**e every day of
every week but at least he is consistent. Secondly the first team management
for allowing me to display all my changing room and kit washing skills without
interuption. Thirdly Steve Gilbert for denying me all the above privileges.
Frankly FRANKY thank you on behalf of the whole club. All youth team managers
thank you for allowing me to be infested with ankle biters and rug rats for
another season. Its been a privilege to pick up your used sauce sachets and
squashed chips. I,ll get my own back next Season.

Youth to Mens Football |
I
would just like to say a big THANK YOU to Alan Watson for producing
an excellent site for Wendron.
On the subject of younger footballers breaking into the men's teams
- although I don't agree with Sean's observation that they have
to leave Wendron to play adult football, I do think there isn't
enough interaction between the men's/youth sides. As manager of
the Under 15's United squad, I have yet to meet the 2nd or 3rd team
managers at any of our matches let alone training sessions. It is
no secret that we train on a Monday night, our list of home fixtures
is also in the clubhouse, but I have yet to see a representative
of these teams look at
our players, potential 1st/2nd/3rd team players of the future, the
future of football at Wendron. Half of our lads have been with us
since they were 7 and now they are reaching the pinnacle of youth
football they need guidance towards men's football here, not at
Penryn or Helston. I appreciate the time and effort the manager's
put in, but if we are to be sucessful in the future I believe that
the lad's being able to recognise and relate to the men's teams
managers would go a long way to bridge the gap we currently have.
This observation is my personal opinion, is certainly not meant
to be derogatory towards any fellow manager, but something I hope
will provoke a reaction or two.
On a final note, can I just give a special mention to Joss Bray
and Peter Thorne - their dedication and efforts are invaluable and
without them Wendron would not be the sucess it is today. |

Youth set-up |
Firstly,
I hope all players and coaches had a safe and happy Christmas? Congratulations
and thankyou for all the hard work that you've all put into making
Wendron a.f.c the most successfull youth set up in Cornish football.
I know myself how much time and effort families sacrifice to try
and keep Wendron going from strength to strength.
This is myself and Nick's first season in management and have found
we are spoilt for choice of young players who have come through
the Wendron youth policy set up.
At the present moment in time we are currently lying third in the
combination league and in the quarter finals of the Combination
league cup with a home tie against Truro City at the end of January.
Although this year we have brought to the club some more experienced
players to ensure stability, we can still boast four fifteen year
olds and four eightenn year olds, all of which came through the
youth set up at Wendron. I'm sure all of these players are capable
of going on to greater things.
I've probably babbled on enough now so I'll sign off and hopefully
watch some youth team football in the New Year.
Finally can I just say "Have a fantastic new year and please
pass on my regards to all the Wendron youth team footballers, coaches
and families."
